The figure, leaning slightly forward, holds his mandolin close, singing the famous melody "Au clair de la lune," the title of which is inscribed on the base. His expressive face, with its slightly open mouth and raised eyebrows, conveys all the melancholic sweetness associated with this iconic figure of popular theater.
Pierrot's traditional costume, with its wide ruff, loose trousers, and hat adorned with a feather, is rendered with exquisite modeling. A particularly captivating and charismatic piece, the sculpture bears the signature "Bouret" on the base, confirming its attribution to Eutrope Bouret (1833–1906), a sculptor renowned for his poetic and sentimental figures of the late 19th century.
