The frame is fashioned from warm-toned fruitwood, most likely walnut or cherrywood, with a naturally developed patina consistent with age and use. The serpentine apron and gently flared legs speak to the lingering influence of the Louis XV manner.

The high back reclines using the two metal handles under each arm to give the chair a variety of comfortable positions. The reclining back mechanism, a defining feature of the Voltaire type, remains present and functional.

The current upholstery is a flame-stitch or bargello-patterned textile in coral, ochre, olive, and sage, its energetic zigzag rhythm providing lively contrast to the quieter warmth of the wood. Brass nailhead trim outlines the seat, back, and arm pads throughout, adding period-appropriate finish.
