Antique Persian Malayer Gallery Rug with Navy Field With Paisley Design. Keivan Woven Arts/ rug/EMB-8443-13982, country of origin / type: Iran / Malayer, circa 1920.
Antique Persian Malayer gallery rug featuring a dramatic deep navy field densely filled with a finely scaled Herati pattern. The repeating boteh-like motifs are rendered in coral red, soft ivory, muted rose, and pale blue, creating a rich, textured surface with remarkable depth and visual rhythm. The elongated field is structured by angular outlines and anchored by a central diamond medallion in warm red and ivory, adding focus to the intricate allover design.
The composition is framed by a beautifully drawn border in light sage, ivory, and soft terracotta, decorated with stylized floral and geometric elements that contrast gently with the darker field. Guard stripes in complementary tones provide definition and reinforce the rug’s architectural balance. Subtle abrash and natural wear enhance the character and authenticity of the piece.
The combination of deep coloration, refined pattern scale, and gallery proportions makes this Malayer rug especially well suited for hallways and narrow interiors, offering both decorative richness and timeless Persian craftsmanship.
