Carved wooden statue of Jesus, made around 1900.
Carved from a single piece of wood, this sculpture depicts Jesus Christ after being taken down from the Cross. Such figures were intended for placement in the Holy Sepulchre during the Easter season, for Good Friday processions, or as part of larger Passion displays. The statue is finely carved, reflecting the hand of an experienced craftsman.
