This striking petrified wood sculpture is formed from a fossilized tree that transformed into stone approximately 20 million years ago in the volcanic landscapes of Indonesia. Over millions of years, the original wood was gradually replaced by minerals such as quartz, chalcedony, and jasper, preserving the natural structure of the tree while turning it into an exceptionally durable natural stone. To help visualize how the piece can be styled within an interior, we have also added a digital inspiration image.
The sculpture displays a dramatic vertical form, where the original textures of the tree have been preserved and accentuated through careful polishing. Rich earth tones of warm brown, amber, honey, and charcoal flow through the surface, creating a layered mineral pattern that reflects the long geological history of the material. The natural contours and irregular edges follow the original shape of the ancient trunk, giving the piece a powerful organic presence.
Because the form of the fossilized wood is largely preserved, the sculpture carries both the strength of natural stone and the fluid character of ancient wood. Light reflects beautifully across the polished surfaces, revealing depth, translucency, and subtle mineral variations within the stone.
Each piece from Xyleia Petrified Wood is carefully sourced in Indonesia and finished with precision in Twello, the Netherlands. As every fossilized tree is unique, no two sculptures are ever exactly alike — making each piece a truly one-of-a-kind natural work of art shaped by millions of years of Earth's history.
