This original oil painting is by the French artist Louis Suire and is dated 1927.

Louis Suire was a renowned French artist, known as the “painter of light” and especially associated with the isle of Ré, where he established a studio. Talented in many fields, he was a writer, publisher, and musician as well as a painter. Based in La Rochelle, he was a popular and hard-working artist who produced sensitive and elegant work and cared deeply about the region.

This charming 1927 coastal landscape is an original oil on panel by the French painter Louis Suire (1899–1987). The painting depicts several small sailing boats resting on calm waters in the beautiful Gulf of Morbihan in Brittany. Soft light, delicate reflections and a distant rocky island create a tranquil Breton maritime scene.
