A rare “Cocotte” desk lamp designed by Gilardi & Barzaghi and produced in Italy in the 1950s. This elegant mid-century modern lamp features a distinctive perforated conical shade in lacquered metal, mounted on a refined brass structure.
The shade is connected to the stem by an articulated ball joint allowing precise orientation of the light. The minimalist bent brass base gives the lamp a light and sculptural appearance typical of Italian post-war lighting design.
The Cocotte model was documented in the Italian design magazine Domus (issue 298, September 1954), illustrating the innovative lighting designs produced in Italy during the mid-century period.
