Traveling Man Treasures is selling this rare limited edition bronze sculpture by renowned Russian artist Nicolai Fechin. This limited edition (10/35) piece is in excellent condition with no issues as shown in the photos. The original artwork was a carved wood sculpture by Fechin. The sculpture is inscribed: Paul Masa, the creator of the limited edition bronze castings from the original.
Fechin’s work gained prominence in the United States thanks to WS Stimmel, his patron in New York, and in 1923, helped by Stimmel, the artist took the decision to escape the social upheaval and deprivation caused by the Russian Revolution and relocate his family to New York City. After four years in the metropolis, he moved for health reasons to Taos, New Mexico, where he developed a deep appreciation for the landscape and the local Native American culture. On the breakdown of his marriage, in 1933 Fechin and his daughter returned to New York City before finally relocating to California. Fechin travelled widely and continued to paint and teach until his death in Santa Monica in 1955.
