Traveling Man Treasures is selling this beautiful late 20th century bronze reproduction of the famous "Dancing Faun of Pompeii". The sculpture is very well crafted, with a nice patina and fine details many replicas do not have.
The figure depicts a satyr or faun, a mythological creature, with small horns and a tail, captured in a dynamic dancing pose with arms raised. The piece bears an original gallery sticker, and has been confirmed as 30+ years old and cast by The Antonio Frilli Art Gallery in Florence, Italy.
DIMENSIONS: 12.5" H x 4" W x 4.25" L
The original Roman bronze statue, dating to the 2nd century BC, was discovered in 1830 in the House of the Faun in Pompeii, Italy. The original is considered a masterpiece of classical art and is housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, with a replica standing in its original location in Pompeii.
