Furniture of this type was commonly used in shops, offices and workshops to organize documents, tools, and small working materials. The numerous drawers allowed efficient classification and storage. The cabinet is constructed in Japanese ash (Fraxinus mandshurica var. japonica) combined with plywood elements, reflecting the transition to modern furniture techniques in early twentieth-century Japan. The design is functional and understated, featuring ten drawers of varying sizes fitted with metal handles. Some hardware has been replaced over time, showing the practical life of the piece. The surface retains a warm aged patina with visible signs of use, adding authenticity and character.
