A striking vintage Japanese ceramic drinking vessel attributed to Arita ware, featuring a tall tapered form, pedestal foot, and richly textured horizontal bands in black, bronze, and warm metallic gold tones.
Traditionally designed as a Japanese sake or beer cup, this sculptural piece has an unusually modern presence. The layered horizontal decoration creates an organic, almost hand-worked appearance that fits beautifully into wabi-sabi, Japandi, organic modern, and collected interiors.
The pale glazed interior provides a beautiful contrast to the dark exterior, while the narrow foot and flared upper body give the piece an elegant architectural silhouette.
Although originally intended as drinkware, it also displays beautifully as a small sculptural object, bud-vase-style accent, or addition to a curated collection of Japanese ceramics.
A wonderful small-scale Japanese accent for a bar, dining room, display cabinet, bookshelf, or layered tabletop arrangement.
