Established in 1854, McSorley's Old Ale House is one of New York City’s oldest and most storied taverns. Located in Manhattan’s East Village, McSorley’s became legendary for its sawdust-covered floors, simple menu, and famously limited offering of just two beers: light or dark ale. Over the years the tavern has welcomed a remarkable list of patrons including Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John Lennon, and E. E. Cummings.
