Gorgeous Antique Italian Renaissance Revival, Walnut, U. Brichetto Genoa, Dining Table!
Antique Dining Table, Italian Renaissance Revival, Walnut, U. Brichetto Genoa, 20th C., 1900s!!
A substantial Italian Renaissance Revival carved walnut extension dining table by U. Brichetto, Genova, early 20th century, retaining the original maker’s label to the underside of the tabletop.
The table features a rectangular top with finely molded foliate edge, raised on monumental trestle supports carved with scrolling acanthus and baluster-form elements. The supports are joined by a carved cross-stretcher and terminate in bold volute feet.
The form draws directly from 16th century Italian Renaissance refectory and palace tables, a style that saw renewed popularity in Italy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as part of the broader Renaissance Revival movement. During this period, workshops in Genoa and Northern Italy produced high-quality walnut furnishings inspired by historic Florentine and Lombard models, often for grand villas and formal interiors.
This example reflects that tradition, with strong architectural presence and solid walnut construction throughout.
