This portrait of an Amish horse was painted as he was resting from a trip to town. The shadows on this sorrel horse and the harness as the sun was shining down on him made a great subject. The colorful summer background and dappled shadows on the ground are painted loosely to ensure the subject stands out. He stands relaxed and serene as he waits to bring his family home.

Two live edge pieces of barn wood came together perfectly to create this striking piece. The weathered knots and natural character shine through, enhanced by a rich cranberry walnut patina that complements the painting’s natural tones. The artwork is framed in white walnut wood with a subtle patina, accented by decorative recycled metal Florette tacks for a touch of rustic charm.
