Active between 1898 and 1939, Foster was celebrated for her delicate botanical works, which frequently graced high-end household objects of the era. Unlike more common versions, this piece features a glass-backed image rather than a paper print, set into a sophisticated "shadowbox" frame that gives the still life a remarkable sense of depth.

The craftsmanship is typical of the period's luxury, boasting a wooden frame with hand-carved floral rosettes and a striking border of textured emerald glass. These vibrant green accents, paired with slivers of mirror, capture the light beautifully. The tray remains in its original, un-dismantled state, preserving the integrity of Foster’s work.
