The curved legs, the calm proportions of the tabletop, and the ornamentally articulated apron create an elegant and balanced overall effect. Historical context: Furniture in the Louis XV style, or its later revivals, was particularly common in middle-class homes during the 19th century. It adopted the forms of French Rococo, but often translated them into a calmer and more structurally stable design for everyday use. Tables of this type were used in both dining rooms and formal living rooms, where curved lines and decorative carvings were considered hallmarks of craftsmanship.
