Designed in the … Read more This modular wall unit was handcrafted in teak during the 1960s by Avalon Furniture in Somerset, England. Designed in the spirit of Scandinavian modernism, Avalon’s mid-century pieces were produced in-house to reflect the clean lines and functionality of the era. We have configured this particular setup to present a balanced, straight-line composition by doubling the bays, allowing all modules to sit at the same level. However, the system is entirely flexible and can be reconfigured to suit your space and preferences. Please note that bays cannot be shared at the same height — each metal upright (bay) supports only one module per level. This ensures structural integrity and preserves the original design principles. The cabinets and shelves have been fully restored: carefully sanded and finished in oil, in keeping with the original treatment, preserving their authentic mid-century character and the warm tone of the teak. One of the chests had previously sustained a small knock. This area has been carefully restored, and the mark has been blended as much as possible into the surrounding wood. Nevertheless, a faint trace remains — a small scar near the left corner of the chest — subtle, yet still visible upon close inspection. The iron of the bays have been gently cleaned only.
