The sculpture depicts an elegant Bacchante figure holding a vessel, surrounded by lively mythological figures including playful putti and a satyr with hoofed legs, a subject closely associated with Clodion’s celebrated compositions inspired by classical mythology and the cult of Bacchus.
The dynamic arrangement captures the exuberant spirit characteristic of Clodion’s work.
