Hand-painted on porcelain in the 1850-1899 time period in Japan, the medium-sized pot includes a lid. This is an antique Japanese Satsuma Chocolate Pot with handle and lid.

It is beautifully designed featuring three figurines on one side and four on the other. It has a lovely shape filled with classic oriental designs. This pot is made of a durable Porcelain material. It has a round ring for the base. This is definitely a handmade piece which has some age to it. Based on its looks, I believe it's from the late 1800's although it could be from the early 1900's. This is a beautiful piece and a very fine example of Japanese Satsuma Porcelain.

Condition: one very small chip to spout, has been repaired, see photos. It does show crazing with some staining within the crazing which only adds to its character. It has normal manufacturer defects.

It measures 9.1/2" high by 6.1/2" across spout to handle. See less
