This powerful Japanese warrior figure is presented in a glass display case with a black lacquered wooden frame and an opening glass door at the front. The gold-toned back panel enhances the ceremonial and monumental character of the piece.
Dimensions: height 45.5 cm, width 47.5 cm, depth 29 cm.
The figure wears richly layered, silk-like garments in shades of orange, gold, and deep brown. In his hands he holds a ceremonial kabuto helmet and a lance, while a katana is attached at his side. This combination of attributes refers to courage, protection, and the warrior’s code of honour within Japanese courtly and martial tradition.
The wooden name plaque bears the inscription 初陣 (Hatsujin), literally “first battle,” a charged moment symbolising transition, coming of age, and honour. The dynamic stance and intense gaze reinforce this narrative and give the figure a strong, commanding presence.
Traditionally, figures of this type were displayed as Sangatsu Ningyō around Hinamatsuri (March 3rd), with the wish for strength, protection, and a prosperous future. Today, this piece functions as an exceptional decorative and cultural object, suitable for presentation in a display cabinet or as a powerful statement in a refined interior.
Condition is good and well cared for; the doll, textiles, and display case have been excellently preserved, showing only light, age-appropriate traces.
