This set of four chairs, designed by Carlo Ratti in the 1950s for Società Compensati Curvati, represents a classic example of mid-century Italian design. Made of teak-veneered bent plywood, they have a single-piece shell with the characteristic organic and enveloping chalice shape. They feature a wide, ergonomic backrest that opens into an iconic teardrop/oval central hole, visually and structurally lightening the seat. The warm, dark brown wood grain, well preserved, highlights the mastery of steam-bending the plywood. The central hole is closed by an elegant joint with exposed gold-plated brass details, lending a touch of refinement and highlighting the expert craftsmanship of the era. The four thin, slightly tapered, black lacquered metal legs form a sober, slender structure that contrasts with the organic softness of the upper part. The chairs are in good condition, with some signs of age and restoration; The natural patina of time enhances its vintage charm, with no significant signs of wear. A collector's item that combines functionality, organic aesthetics, and high-quality post-war Italian craftsmanship. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
