Antique Gems! Includes 2 stick wicker reed rattan armchairs and 1 matching sofa. This is such a lovely & rare set! After thoroughly cleaning and inspecting all parts I’m really impressed with the construction of yesteryear as this 1920s-30s era furniture has so many thoughtful details. The frame is hardwood, with all original spring seat foundations attached to the main frame and new canvas covers over the springs. Bundled stick reed (pencil reed rattan) lashed with a combination of natural and colored rattan lashings completes this beautiful antique furniture design. There is even a fun magazine rack built into the Sofa armrest. I attribute this set to Heywood Wakefield, although it is unmarked. Intended as indoor furniture to protect its longevity. Photographed outside for most natural lighting. Acquired from a historic home in Coronado Island, CA.
The cushions are upholstered in a thick white denim with a combination of foam and feather inserts. Very comfortable size proportions!

Makes the seating very comfortable!The frames have been cleaned and treated with boiled linseed oil to moisturize the rattan and finished in a light coat of satin lacquer to protect the natural materials. I have rebound several of the lashings, trying to keep the original colored ones whenever possible. I selected “design modified” because the cushions have been updated. Previous owner had them upholstered in a thick white denim. Unfortunately when I removed the cushion covers to wash them, two of the zippers broke. You can have the zippers replaced and use as-is or this set would look amazing reupholstered in a period specific print! It’s just such a taste preference I decided to keep costs down and not reupholster myself. The set would look amazing in a historic cottage or coastal porch! less
