Superb Carrara marble bust of Juliette Récamier, a celebrated figure in early 19th-century Lyon and Parisian society.
This sculpture is a reproduction of the work of the Lyon sculptor Joseph Chinard, whose original is held at the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon. It faithfully captures the elegance and delicacy of the original: a gently inclined face, an upturned hairstyle encircled by a headband, finely sculpted drapery, and hands crossed over the chest.
The quality of the Carrara marble particularly highlights the fine modeling and the subtle interplay of light on the forms. The overall effect exudes grace and poetry, characteristic of early 19th-century Neoclassical representations.
A highly decorative piece, ideal for a console table, mantelpiece, or marble column, in a classic or contemporary interior.
Good overall condition considering its age.
Note: one corner of the base is broken (visible in the photos). Wear, slight cracks, and patina consistent with the piece's age.
A beautiful decorative piece for lovers of neoclassical sculpture and 19th-century art.
