A sculptural mid-century ceramic table lamp by Hubert Guy of Accolay, featuring a mottled light blue and brown volcanic glaze and paired with a handcrafted raffia shade—an elegant piece of French studio pottery well suited to organic modern interiors.
The lamp is newly wired with a jute-wrapped cord and is ready for use in the United States. We also offer complimentary plug customization for international buyers to ensure compatibility with electrical standards worldwide. Height listed includes the lampshade.
This table lamp is created from a mid-century ceramic vase by Hubert Guy, a potter associated with the renowned Accolay ceramics community in Burgundy, France. The vase features a classic baluster form with a rounded body, narrow waist, and gently flaring neck, giving the piece a sculptural silhouette characteristic of French studio pottery of the period.
The surface is finished in a mottled light blue glaze layered over a warm brown ground, producing a richly textured volcanic effect. The glaze appears almost patinated, with pale blue tones emerging through the earthy surface to create an organic, irregular pattern reminiscent of oxidized metal or weathered stone. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Guy,” identifying the work of Hubert Guy.
The lamp is paired with a tall cylindrical raffia lampshade, constructed from natural fibers arranged in vertical strands and woven into horizontal bands. This open weave allows light to filter through softly while casting subtle vertical shadows, emphasizing the shade’s handcrafted character. A natural jute-wrapped cord complements the organic materials and warm tones of the ceramic base.
The combination of expressive mid-century pottery and natural fiber shade gives the lamp a strong sculptural presence while maintaining a relaxed, tactile aesthetic. It works beautifully within organic modern, coastal, or textured contemporary interiors, where natural materials and handcrafted surfaces are central design elements.
