This chandelier is an iconic representative of Functionalist design and the Bauhaus movement in 1930s Czechoslovakia. During this period, the beauty of an object was derived from its function and technical purity. The dominant feature is the chrome-plated steel construction, which has been professionally cleaned to a mirror finish as part of the restoration. The subtle metal arms support opal (milk) glass shades, providing a pleasant, soft, and evenly diffused light.
