A high-quality studio ceramic art cup with saucer, created by the renown German ceramic artist Helma Klett (1908-1996) around 1970.
The beautiful unique piece features a modernist glaze in warm red brown and beige tones with an abstracted decor. It is stamped with the logo of Helma Klett and comes from an ambitious private ceramic art collection.
Helma Klett was trained by the renown ceramist Siegfried Graham in Römhild during the 1930s. The ceramist founded her artistic pottery workshop in the village of Fredelsloh, Northern Germany in 1940.
She followed the modernist principles of the modernist Bauhaus as well as ancient traditional design in her work and this duality makes it very interesting.
