Mid-century Chinese carved rosewood altar table (翘头案) by Genghis Khan Furniture, made in Taiwan (R.O.C.). Purchased in San Diego in the early 1960s.
Features a stunning hand-carved double dragon and flaming pearl apron on both front and back, openwork floral scroll side panels, Greek key fretwork stretchers, and cloud-scroll spandrels at the corners. Classic everted-flange form with a floating panel top showing beautiful natural rosewood grain and a rich, warm patina developed over decades.
Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout - no screws or nails. Solid and sturdy. From a smoke-free home. Excellent vintage condition with normal age-appropriate wear consistent with a 60+ year old piece. Original Genghis Khan Furniture label intact underneath.
