Kang tables were traditionally used in northern China atop heated brick platforms for tea service, dining, and social gatherings. Today they are highly sought after as dramatic oversized coffee tables or lounge platforms in contemporary interiors.

This example is crafted from solid Chinese elm and features classic northern Chinese design elements including curved horse-hoof legs and recessed apron panels. The woven rattan inset surface sits within a substantial hardwood frame supported by thick structural rails.
