When we see a painting by this popular swedish artist we are reminded of why we curate our souls through collecting art. This still life showcases the artists's ability to bend and twist both pattern and color. The patterned wall paper, flowers, frames, and textiles activate the viewers senses into a state of euphoria. For collectors, paintings like these are getting harder to find. His still lifes, portraits, and landscapes reflect the style, motifs, and technique that were developed during his many study trips to southern Europe . He was most active in his native region of Skåne in Sweden during his career. His use of color and shapes in his work evoked a similarity with that of Pablo Picasso so he was sometimes called the Picasso of Skåne. His work can be seen in the Malmö Art Museum and the Ystad Art Museum as well as others.
This painting is in very good condition. And is signed by the artist top left front. It measures 14 and 1/2 inches high by 16 inches wide framed to a size of 18 and 1/2 inches high to 20 inches wide. The gold tone wooden frame is in very good vintage condition with some minimal vintage wear. The linen liner is intact but like most vintage linen liners it has evenly discolored with age adding to the charm of the painting. See less
