Add a touch of "Cottagecore" elegance to your collection with this exquisite early 20th-century bouillon set. This fine Bavarian porcelain was imported by the renowned New York firm L.D. Bloch & Co. and serves as a stunning example of the Arts & Crafts era’s hobbyist china painting movement.
Vibrantly hand-painted with ripe garden strawberries and lush greenery, framed by a striking coral-orange band at the rim.
The interior of the bowl and the entire surface & bottom of the saucer feature a brilliant opalescent "mother-of-pearl" lustre glaze that creates a beautiful rainbow sheen.
The Artist: Truly a one-of-a-kind find, both the bowl and saucer are hand-signed in gold by the artist, Emily Phelps Haines.
Features elegant double-loop handles finished in a deep metallic bronze-tone glaze.
Backstamp: Marked "L D B C Co Bavaria" and "Made in Germany."
Features importer catalog number 55/2620.
Production Codes: Mold numbers 25 and 49 stamped on the base.

The porcelain is bright and translucent. As with all the hand-painted lusterware. There are some minor spots on the black handles where the color had flaked off. One tiny chip on the under side of the saucer. It is unnoticeable due to the shine of the opalescent iridescence and it does not interfere with how it sits. It is recommended to gentle hand-wash only to preserve the delicate metallic and iridescent finishes. Beautiful! less
