Brass-bound top with Greek key frieze, eagle-head sabre legs (“sword handles”), lower shelf—all factory-fresh, QC-checked (tag included: batch 00084, inspector 15, every box ticked). Bought direct from Charles, 9th Earl Spencer (Princess Diana’s brother) at Southeastern Galleries launch in Charleston, South Carolina —original sales tag still on: $1,755 regular, I paid $1,315.
Inside drawer: embedded silver medallion honoring the First Lord of the Admiralty (2nd Earl Spencer)—profile bust, full inscription, no removal. Plus the invite: signed “Spencer” with his dad’s quote—“If I had one wish, it would be to come back in twenty years and see what we have made of the place.” Ink bleed, pressure fade—real, not printed.
