Mersman Furniture Company, founded in 1870 in Ottoville, Ohio, was a prolific manufacturer known for producing high-quality, affordable wooden tables, primarily made of mahogany, oak, or walnut. By the 1920's the company had offices throughout the United States, and proclaimed that one in ten household tables in America had been made by Mersman. It continued to run successfully throughout the Depression, using a number of innovative marketing techniques and strategies, and later made furniture for the military during World War II.
