The form is … Read more A decorative fruit basket made of bent aluminum, with a light and openwork structure resembling a braid. The form is based on hand-formed wires and a characteristic rim with many rods twisted into a spiral frame, which gives the whole an elegant, modernist character.
The design is in line with the aesthetics of post-war modernism, popular in Western Europe – especially in France and Italy – in the 1950s and 1960s. These types of baskets were produced as designer table accessories, combining functionality with a decorative, sculptural form.
Thanks to its light construction and organic lines, the object fits perfectly into modernist, mid-century modern, and contemporary arrangements.
Condition: very good vintage condition, minor signs of wear consistent with age.
