The artist added different layers to the painting, creating a sense of depth through its colours and a variety of tactile textures. The front and back of the painting are both marked ‘Cardinali 1968’, and the back also bears the inscription ‘Pantin pour parc opulent’. The painting is in good original condition, with different colourways on the sides, which we expect to be a result of the artist’s process and choice of materials. These discolorations on the sides of the canvas could look like signs of water damage, but after careful consideration and inspection, we still expect these details to derive from the artist’s process.
