The front panel features blooming peonies, traditionally associated in Chinese culture with love, prosperity, and a happy marriage. The floral motifs are framed by delicate scrolling foliage and geometric borders, creating a balanced and symbolic composition typical of traditional marriage trunks.

The trunk retains its original brass lock plate and side carrying handles, adding both decorative presence and functional strength. The large circular lock plate is characteristic of Chinese storage chests of the period and gives the piece a strong visual focal point.
