Restored Scandinavian modern solid teak three seater sofa / couch, made by Sun Cabinet Co. The sling-style seat floats within a sculpted sled-leg base, with armrests that widen towards the center to provide both comfort and stylistic accent. The slatted backrest makes for a striking appearance from both front and back.
The frame has been lightly sanded and refinished. The cushions have been fully reupholstered in a soft, forest green textile that perfectly compliments the earthy tones of the teak frame. New webbing and high density foam ensure decades of comfortable use.
Sun Cabinet is one of several companies to have set up manufacturing of Danish Modern furniture in Southeast Asia in the 1970s and and 1980s. They brought Danish designs and craftsmanship closer to where the raw materials — primarily Burmese teak — were harvested. This particular model resembles Ole Wanscher's iconic Senator sofa.
