Truly a masterwork of Christian Spiritual tradition in sculptural bronze, unique, crafted in Italy, late 19th century, representing "Christic Spirit Liberated", in a most expressive depiction of the Saviour liberated from the symbol of pain and suffering, the Cross.
Purportedly it has been presented as a gift to Cesare Orsini of the Vatican, having decorated his private altar throughout his life.
"Lost Wax" gilded solid bronze (ormolu, fire gilt), on amber Murano glass pedestal (symbolizing the Sea of the Sins of Man), with incredible finesse of the micro-detail, professionally restored.
In impeccable, museum like condition, presenting engraved papal cross and letters "CO".
