Signed … Read more Robert Eickholt studio art glass paperweight, created in 1996, featuring a sculptural blue glass form encased within clear glass. Signed and dated on the underside. Measures 3" H x 2.5" D. Excellent condition with natural production variations typical of studio glass and minor wear consistent with age and use.

Robert Eickholt (b. 1947, Columbus, Ohio) is an American studio glass artist known for his distinctive, one-of-a-kind art glass works. Fascinated early on with light refraction and color theory, he initially pursued a degree in business management and computer science at Miami University in Oxford, graduating in 1970. After a brief period working as a systems analyst in Cincinnati, he became inspired by a presentation from pioneering glass artist Fritz Driesbach and decided to pursue glassmaking.

Eickholt moved to Berkeley, California to study glassblowing under Marvin Lipofsky before returning to Columbus in the mid-1970s, where he continued studies at Ohio State University and the Columbus College of Art and Design. In 1978 he opened his own studio, producing paperweights, vessels, and sculptural works known for their vibrant colors and use of materials such as gold, silver, cobalt, and copper oxides. Eickholt retired in 2013, though his work remains widely collected within the American studio glass movement. See less
