A splendid solid silver sugar bowl of high-quality Italian craftsmanship, dating back to the 1970s. A significant and sculptural piece, characterized by intricate workmanship that enhances its preciousness.
Subject and Style: The body of the sugar bowl is distinguished by its rich "torchon" (or spiral ribbing) workmanship: large, raised scrolls envelop the object, creating a highly dynamic, swirling effect. This design creates magnificent plays of light and shadow, accentuated by the natural patina present in the grooves. The lid features the same spiral motif and is topped with a finely chiseled sculptural knob depicting a flowering vine or a fruit with leaves. The two side handles are crafted with swirl motifs reminiscent of the Rococo style.
Material and Finish: Crafted entirely of solid 800 silver. The interior of the bowl is incredibly polished, appearing virtually as good as new ("untouched"), a striking and pleasing contrast to the exterior. The silver hallmarks (800 fineness and manufacturer's diamond) are visible on the inside bottom.
