Spode, Josiah Spode (Stoke, Staffordshire, c. 1762-present)
Antique bough pot of the Georgian period used to hold flowers and branches to decorate the fireplace mantle or dining room sideboard. Decorated with polychrome butterflies and gilt foliate sprays above a fluted bottom section and squashed bun gilt feet. Impressed mark: Spode. Good condition, formerly with a pierced lid. Circa 1800. We have a companion pair of root pots listed - together they form a handsome garniture.
