Stunning Folk Art mantle, believed to date to the early 20th century with unique, diamond-shaped fretwork . The unpainted back, shows pine construction, but I'm unable to say if it's 100% pine. The flat, brown paint is old, but possibly not original. There are nail/screw holes from ;previous installations, but not unexpected or detrimental to the overall aesthetic appeal. While the diamond-shaped details along the top were created from long pieces of wood, each diamond below the horizontal mantle surface is individually cut and applied. The horizontal mantle surface appears to have been applied with a combination of flat head screws and pegs.
Last photo shows original corner brackets and a piece of original moulding that were removed by the last owner and will be reapplied prior to transport.
