Its low profile and sculptural silhouette are defined by the continuous, flowing line where the leather seat is tensioned and stitched to the wooden structure, achieving a balance between comfort and visual purity. This essential form was embraced by some of the most important cultural figures of Mexico. Artists such as Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera incorporated butaque chairs into their studios and living spaces, valuing them not only for their comfort, but as authentic expressions of Mexican identity and craftsmanship—elements that frequently appear documented in historical photographs of their interiors.
