About Salvador Teran: Born in Taxco, (1920-1974) trained with William Spratling at el Rancho "Las Delicias", then from 1939 worked with his cousins Los Castillo at their taller before moving to Mexico City and setting up on his own there at La India Bonita in 1952. Both innovative and inventive, his jewelry features pierced forms with shadowboxed backgrounds lending a highly graphic quality to his slightly surrealistic work. He is also well known for his mosaic pieces, trays, wall hangings, coffee sets and boxes, usually brass with brightly colored glass tesserae inlaid in modernist and pre-Columbian inflected designs.
