Good quality batch of classic bentwood chairs with a classic shape and very rich warm brown colour. At the beginning of the 20th Century there were two (amongst others) competing bentwood producers, J&J Kohn and Mundus. Both produced chairs in various factories throughout the Austro Hungarian empire. Undoubtedly due to a combination of commercial pressure from the market leading producer Thonet and the political upheaval of the time, the firms merged in 1914. These chairs are from this 'joint' producer before it merged with Thonet in 1922, so very early chairs. Beautiful surviving and fascinating chairs. All our chairs pass through our own workshop where they are gently serviced, cleaned and waxed. Seat height 46cm.
