A superb barbotine asparagus dish dating from the late 19th century, typical of naturalistic French ceramic production.
The piece consists of a large tray with two integrated handles, supporting a ribbed, inclined stand designed to hold the drained asparagus.
The finely modeled relief decoration evokes a vegetal weave in shades of seafoam green and ivory, enhanced with green hues and subtle touches of burgundy imitating the ties of asparagus bundles.
The glaze displays beautiful textural and depth effects, characteristic of late 19th-century barbotine production. Both utilitarian and highly decorative, this piece is perfect as a centerpiece in a stylish kitchen or as part of a collection of antique ceramics.
