This seating suite, comprising a sofa and two armchairs, represents the absolute pinnacle of European design from the early 20th century. It is a masterpiece of the Vienna Secession, designed by the visionary architect and co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte, Josef Hoffmann, for the prestigious J. & J. Kohn company. Hoffmanns unmistakable style, based on geometric rigor and the play with square motifs, foreshadows the advent of modern architecture and Art Deco.
The suite has undergone precise restoration, returning it to its original elegance. The stained beech construction demonstrates the stability and quality of bentwood furniture for which the Kohn firm was renowned. The original wood polish has been sensitively refreshed to highlight the deep color and silky luster of the frame. The entire set has been newly and professionally upholstered, with a textile choice that corresponds to the suites historical significance and underscores its architectural value. This is an investment piece of museum quality that defined the aesthetics of modern Vienna.

This item features Art Nouveau elements. It was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers. Art Nouveau is an international style of art that originated in France at the end of the 19th century and therefore is considered the direct predecessor of the European Art Deco style.
