This painting was created in 1982--a period in which George was heavily invested in the post-impressionist side of his artistic brain.

Its vantage point is that of someone below the scope of the painting, looking up at the
snow-covered dune.

What is most interesting, (as is the case with many postimpressionistic works) is that up close, the painting devolves into globs of heavily applied oil paint. But take just a few steps back and a cohesive scene emerges.

The colors are dark and wintry. But the snow! The snow is white and glossy, much like the sheen of newly fallen snow. It really is quite exceptional.

This is a smaller painting--perfect for an entry way or passway.
