Antique cast iron French bulldog doorstop dating to the early 20th century (circa 1915–1935).
Heavy, solid construction weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces. Measures approximately 8 inches long and 10 inches tall to the tips of the ears.
Features original hand-painted finish with natural age wear and authentic paint loss consistent with true antique examples. No modern repaint detected. Paint exhibits honest alligatoring and oxidation appropriate for its age.
Constructed in two cast halves joined with an internal screw, with original period plug at the rear of the neck. The plug shows raised casting numbers typical of early American foundry production. No maker’s mark visible.
Sits flat on all four feet with no wobble.
This is a substantial, early American cast iron bulldog doorstop — not a lightweight decorative reproduction.
Condition:
• Original paint with expected wear and chipping
• Age-related surface oxidation
• Structurally solid and stable
A wonderful piece for collectors of antique doorstops, bulldog decor, or early American cast iron.
