The set is comprised of … Read more A sublime set of ten rare "Cocoon" dining chairs designed by William Sofield for McGuire. The set is comprised of eight side chairs and two host armchairs. Each chair is crafted from a rich walnut frame fully embellished in stained and woven Danish cord. The Danish cord is articulated with stepped directional seams that create an intricate, faceted profile. The sculptural frames are crafted out of dark walnut, which is exposed at corners and feet, adding a layer of depth to the chairs. The designs feature dramatically arched apron cutouts and slender tapered legs, lending a graceful and fluid organic movement to the chairs. The woven cord is expertly crafted into a strong interlocked pattern with envelope folds. The chairs are accompanied by loose fitted chocolate-brown leather seat cushions. The chairs blend California Coastal, Modern, and Organic styles, well suited to a variety of settings. The bespoke chairs include McGuire Furniture plaques underneath and original order tags dated 12-31-2013. The frames are sturdy and strong having excellent joinery and craftsmanship by McGuire California artisans. The armchairs measure approximately 25" wide, 26" deep, 39.5" tall, and have 25.5" high arms. The side chairs measure approximately 19" wide, 26" deep, and 39.5" tall. The chairs are in exceptional, well preserved condition as seen in photos. Sold as a set of ten from an estate in Beverly Hills, CA. The chairs are located at our Northern California warehouse ready for delivery and installation.
