This Rare modernist and avant garden Villeroy & Boch service stainless steel flatware set was made in West Germany in 1971 It is hallmarked on the back of each piece. It was part of a collection that was designed by the duality of Helen Von Both and Frederico Fabbrini and was part of the La Bomba picnic set that is in the permanent collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The flatware was made to be stackable when more settings are put together for all your picnics. This is a rare set and very discontinued. The design was submitted for a US patent in 1971 and was awarded in 1973.
The fork is 7.5" W/L x 1.5" D x 0.5" H. The knife is 7.85" L /W x 1.5" D x 0.25" H. The long spoon is 7.85" L/W x 1.5" D x 1" H as it curves up. The small spoon is 4" L/W x 1.25" D x 0.25" This is a fabulous set and has now become a collectors item.
